HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 763 - Contract - American Softball Association - Softball Leagues Services - 03/26/1981RESOLUTION #763 - 3/26/81 AA:pc BID 6278 RESOLUTION BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: THAT the Mayor of the City of Lubbock BE and is hereby authorized and directed to execute for and on behalf of the City of Lubbock a Contract for Services with the American Softball Association, attached herewith which shall be spread upon the minutes of the Council and as spread upon the minutes of this Council shall constitute and be a part of this Resolution as if fully copied herein in detail. IX/i BI11 McALISTER, MAYOR ATTEST: Evelyn- Gaffga, City Secreta -Treasurer APPROVED AS TO CONTENT: Walter Heard, 'Parks Superintendent APPROVED AS TO FORM: Angela Adams, Assistant City Attorney RESOLUTION #763 - 3/26/41 y STATE OF TEXAS-� �O Zv D KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS: COUNTY OF LUBBOCK § CONTRACT FOR SERVICES THIS AGREEMENT, entered into at Lubbock, Texas, by and between the City of Lubbock, hereinafter called the "CITY" and Amateur Softball Association of America whose address is: R.R. 4, Box 385, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73111 , hereinafter called "ASSOCIATION"; WITNESSETH: WHEREAS, the CITY sponsors numerous softball leagues within the City of Lubbock constituting approximately 300 teams; and WHEREAS, the CITY desires to obtain certain services in connection with its softball leagues; NOW THEREFORE, in considerations of the covenants and agreements herein contained and other valuable consideration the ASSOCIATION hereby agrees to provide the services hereinafter set forth. The ASSOCIATION shall provide the CITY and its softball teams and umpires with the services listed below for a term of approximately ten months ending December 31, 1981. 1. The ASSOCIATION shall provide umpire registration and training assistance, and shall provide each registered umpire with accident and liability insurance to, from, and during sanctioned games. The amount of insurance coverage shall be: $2,500 Accidental Death Benefit, $5,000 maximum Accidental Dismember- ment Benefit, $100,000 maximum Medical Expense-genetitwith no deductible 2. The ASSOCIATION shall provide a network of sanctioned tournaments from local to national level, and provide the City of Lubbock the option of sanctioning local tournaments through a national organization. 3. The ASSOCIATION shall provide registered teams with a copy of current rules governing play. 4. The ASSOCIATION shall make team insurance available at additional cost. In consideration for the aforementioned services, the CITY does hereby agree to pay the ASSOCIATION $5.00 per team registeredin a`City sponsored softball league payable as follows lump sum Both parties hereby agree that control of the local softball program shall remain with the CITY with technical advice and assistance made available by the ASSOCIATION.
