HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 977 - Canvass Returns - Bond Election - Held 11/21/1981 - 11/24/1981�y RESOLUTION 977 - 11/24/81 JCR: j s RESOLUTION A RESOLUTION BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, TEXAS, CANVASSING RETURNS AND DECLARING RESULTS OF BOND ELECTION HELD NOVEMBER 21, 1981. WHEREAS, this governing body resolved and ordered that an election be held' within this City on the 21st day of November, 1981, for the purpose of submit- ting certain propositions for the issuance of bonds to the resident electors of the City; and WHEREAS, it is hereby found and determined that said election was held in accordance with thea authorizing proceedings, that notice of the election was duly given in the form, manner and time required by law, and that said elec- tion was in all respects legally held and conducted in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas applicable thereto; and WHEREAS, the returns of the said election have been made to this governing body and said returns, duly and legally made, show the following votes were cast on the propositions submitted at said election, to wit: "THE ISSUANCE OF "FOR" "AGAINST" TOTAL VOTES CAST PROPOSITION 2 "THE ISSUANCE OF $] IMPROVEMENTS" "FOR" "AGAINST" TOTAL VOTES CAST ,495,000 GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS FOR STREET IMPROVEMENTS" 6,727 votes 3,815 votes 10,542 votes 2,854,000 GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS FOR CITY AIRPORT 5,628 votes 4,862 votes 10,490 votes "THE ISSUANCE OF $1,000,000 GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS FOR HEALTH FACILITY IMPROVEMENTS" "FOR" 6,129 votes "AGAINST" 4,439 votes TOTAL VOTES CAST 10,568 votes PROPOSITION 4 "TOE ISSUANCE OF $877,000 GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS FOR FIRE STATION BUILDING IMPROVEMENTS" "FOR" 6,871 votes "AGAINST" 3,718 votes TOTAL VOTES CAST 10,589 votes "THE ISSUANCE OF $920,000 GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS FOR RECREATIONAL AND ATHLETIC FACILITIES" "FOR" 5,078 votes "AGAINST" 5,487 votes TOTAL VOTES CAST 10,565 votes "THE ISSUANCE OF $4,283,000 GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS FOR TRAFFIC SIGNALIZATION SYSTEM IMRPOVEMENTS" "FOR" 6,319 votes i "AGAINST" i 4,248 votes i TOTAL VOTES CAST 10,567 votes PROPOSITION 7 "THE ISSUANCE OF $5,226,000 GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS FOR WATER SUPPLY AND SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS" "FOR" 8,088 votes "AGAINST" 2,531 votes TOTAL VOTES CAST 10,619 votes PROPOSITION 8 "THE ISSUANCE OF $7,892,000 GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS FOR SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS" ':'FOR" 7,235 votes "AGAINST" 3,362 votes TOTAL VOTES CAST 10,597 votes THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, TEXAS: SECTION 1: THAT all of the recitals contained in the preamble of this resolution are found to be true and are adopted as findings of fact by this governing body and as part of its Judgment. SECTION 2: THAT it is further found and determined that the results of the election as canvassed and tabulated in the preamble hereof reflect the expressed desires of those persons voting at said election. SECTION 3: THAT a majority of the electors voting at said election having voted in favor of the propositions, (numbered 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7 and 8), this City Council hereby declares that it is authorized and empowered to issue bonds of the City in the amounts and for the purposes stated in said proposi- tions (numbered 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7 and 8); all as more fully set forth and iden- tified in the proceedings calling said bond election.
