HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 1222GG - Seeking Support Of TML With Regard To Matters Requiring Legislative Action - 09/23/1982DGV:js RESOLUTION RESOLUTION 1222 -GG - 9/23/82 TML Legislation WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lubbock deems it to be in the best interest of the citizens of the City of Lubbock and of the other cities of this State to seek the support of the Texas Municipal League with regard to certain matters requiring legislative action, and WHEREAS, such matters as are hereinafter set out are deemed by the City Council of the City of Lubbock to be of great importance to the citizens of the City of Lubbock and the citizens of all other cities of this State; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lubbock desires that the Resolu- tions Committee of the Texas Municipal League give the following matters con- sideration for action during the upcoming legislative session; NOW THEREFORE: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: THAT a concerted effort be made by the cities of this State to ensure that specific and detailed State Legislation is enacted authorizing and rati- fying current municipal activities so as to avoid many potentially devastating anti-trust actions brought pursuant to the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Com- munity Communications Co., Inc. v. City of Boulder, and to ensure that present municipal immunity under current State anti-trust laws is not removed; and THAT the City Manager of the City of Lubbock or his staff is hereby authorized and directed to forward a copy of this Resolution to the Resolu- tions Committee of the Texas Municipal League.
