HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 1298 - Oppose 3 Amendments To City Charter & Urge Voters To Vote Against All 3 - 01/13/1983� f JCR/mck RESOLUTION RESOLUTION 1298 - 1/13/83 WHEREAS, an election will be held on Saturday, January 15, 1983, to con- sider three amendments to the Lubbock City Charter, and WHEREAS, approval of amendment number one could result in higher cost of projects financed with tax -supported bonds, and WHEREAS, approval of amendment number two would put the City in direct conflict with state law, and WHEREAS, approval of amendment number three would provide for no growth in tax revenues to support expansion of services in a growing community and would delay construction of many projects already authorized by voters, and WHEREAS, approval of any of these amendments would result in legal and financial chaos for the citizens of Lubbock, and WHEREAS, the passage of any of the three proposed amendments would not be in the best interest of the citizens of the City of Lubbock, NOW THEREFORE: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: THAT the City Council of the City of Lubbock opposes the passage of all three amendments to the City Charter and urges all qualified voters of Lubbock to vote against all three amendments on Saturday, January 15, 1983.
