HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 1418 - Support Request-HPUCD #1 To Bureau Of Reclamation-Ground Water Recovery Funding - 06/23/1983s' }JWF/mck RESOLUTION RESOLUTION W8 - 6/23/83 WHEREAS, the High Plains Underground Conservation District No. 1 with principal offices at 2930 Avenue Q, Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas has made or is making application for funding to the Bureau of Reclamation of the United States Government for research work on secondary recovery of ground water; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lubbock as governing body of said City desires to go on record as supporting such efforts of the High Plains Underground Conservation District No. 1 in research work on secondary recovery of ground water; NOW THEREFORE: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. THAT the City of Lubbock fully supports the efforts of the High Plains Underground Conservation District No. 1 in the field of research work on secondary recovery of ground water, and the application of said Water District for research funds made or to be made to the Bureau of Reclamation of the United States Government. SECTION 2. THAT the investigation of secondary recovery of ground water as related to the Ogallala Formation on the Great Plains Area of the United States would inure to the benefit of the City of Lubbock and the citizens thereof, because it would develop and refine methods and means of releasing additional waters from the wet sands section and thereby extend the water system available to the citizens of the City of Lubbock and the Plains Area of West Texas, and conserve the existing water supply of said City. SECTION 3. THAT permission is granted for the High Plains Underground Water Conservation District No. 1 to include a copy of this resolution with any submissions and/or applications that said District shall make or is to be made to the Bureau of Reclamation of the United States Government in connection with secondary recovery of ground water research work requested funding.
