RESOLUTION 1414 - 6/23/83
A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK IN
ITS EFFORT TO PERSUADE THE DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT TO PER-
MIT THE PROCEEDS FROM THE SALE OF HOUSING UNITS AT HUB HOMES TO THE TEXAS HIGH-
WAY DEPARTMENT TO BE RETAINED BY THE HOUSING AUTHORITY AND USED TO REPLACE LOW -
RENT HOUSING STOCK WITHIN THE CITY OF LUBBOCK.
WHEREAS, the Texas Highway Department will acquire from the Housing Autho-
rity of the City of Lubbock hereinafter called "Housing Authority", a part of
a tract of land on which are situated housing units at Hub Homes (TX 18-1) for
use as part of the right-of-way of Highway I-27; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, hereinafter
called "HUD", usually requires that proceeds from the sale of such property be
applied to reduce the outstanding debt on the Annual Contribution Contract be-
tween HUD.and the Housing Authority; and
WHEREAS, the Housing Authority has requested the support of the City
Council of the City of Lubbock in an attempt to persuade HUD to permit the
Housing Authority to retain said proceeds and use them to replace low -rent
housing stock within the City of Lubbock; NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
THAT the City Council of the City of Lubbock shall give its support to the
effort of the Housing Authority to persuade HUD to permit the Housing Authority
to retain the proceeds from the sale to the Texas Highway Department of the
tract of land on which are situated housing units at Hub Homes (TX 18-1) and
to use such proceeds to replace the demolished units for the purpose of pre-
serving the low -rent housing stock within the City of Lubbock.
