RESOLUTION
RESOLUTION 1691 - 5/24/84
WHEREAS, the City of Lubbock, Texas,a Home Rule Municipality located
in Lubbock County, Texas, has determined and does hereby determine that the
public needs, safety and welfare demand and create a public necessity for
the acquisition of additional land for municipal public uses and purposes,
to -wit: for the widening of North Quaker Avenue, and this City Council of
said City finds it in the public interest and for public purposes and
municipal purposes to proceed with the acquisition of lands as needed for
such purposes as aforesaid; NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT the fee simple title to the following described tract
of land located in Lubbock County, Texas, be acquired for public purposes
and municipal purposes as set forth in the preamble hereof, to -wit:
A parcel of land located in Section 16, Block A, Lubbock County,
Texas, being more particularly described in two tracts as follows:
TRACT ONE
BEGINNING at a set 60 penny nail which bears S. 00°06152" E. a
distance of 577.00 feet from the Northwest corner of Section 18, Block
A, said point being the Southwest corner of a tract conveyed to C.L.
and Suzie M. Dean, in Volume 1118, Page 667, Deed of Records of
Lubbock County, Texas;
THENCE East a distance of 30.00 feet to a point for the Northwest and
beginning corner of this tract;
THENCE East, along the North line of said tract, a distance of 40.00
feet to a 1/2" rod set for the Northeast corner of said right-of-way
tract;
THENCE S. 00006152" E. a distance of 2067.84 feet to a 1/2" iron rod
set in the East line of said right-of-way tract;
THENCE S. 00043132" W., continuing
341.03 feet to a 1/2" iron rod set

Deed Records of Lubbock County, Texas;
THENCE N. 00006152" W., parallel to and 30.00 feet East of the West
line of Section 18 and along the West line of said tract, at 602.36
feet pass a point 30.00 feet East of a 1/2" iron rod with cap marked
"RPS 1676" found at the Half Section line of Section 18, continuing
for a total distance of 2670.2 feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING.
TRACT TWO
BEGINNING at a 60 penny nail which bears S. 00°06152" E. a distance of
3547.2 feet from the Northwest corner of Section 18, Block A, Lubbock
County, Texas, said point being the Southwest corner of a tract
conveyed to Omer E. Sharpe in Volume 1451, Pages 116-119, Deed Records
of Lubbock County, Texas;
THENCE East a distance of 30.00 feet to the Northwest and beginning
corner of this tract;
THENCE East, along the North line of said right-of-way tract, a
distance of 35.00 feet to a 1/2" iron rod set for the Northeast corner
of this tract;
THENCE S. 00006152" E., along the East line of said tract, a distance
of 154.60 feet to a 1/2" iron rod set at a point of curvature;
THENCE Southwesterly around a curve to the right, said curve having a
radius of 1095.00 feet, central angle of 19040'09", tangent lengths of
189.82 feet, and a chord distance of 374.06 feet to a 1/2" iron rod
set;
THENCE S. 19033117" W., continuing along the East line of said
right-of-way tract, a distance of 5.25 feet to a 1/2" iron rod set in
the West line of Section 18, for a corner of this tract;
THENCE N. 00006152" W., along the West line of Section 18, and along a
West line of said tract, a distance of 39.14 feet to a 1/2" iron rod
set for a corner of this tract;
THENCE Northeasterly around a curve to the left, said curve having a
radius of 1083.00 feet, a central angle of 17059157", tangent lengths
of 171.52 feet and a chord distance of 338.82 feet to a 1/2" iron rod
set for an interior corner of this tract;
THENCE West a distance of 23.00 feet, to a point, for a corner of this
tract;

THENCE N. 00006152" W., along the West line of said tract, a distance
of 154.60 feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING.
SECTION 2. THAT the owners of said tract, including Lester 0. Moore
and his wife, Martha Moore, and Treva Ray Weaver, BE offered through the
Right -of -Way Department of the City of Lubbock the amount of $189770, which
is the amount appraised as the value and total damages for the fee simple
title and acquisition of said real estate hereinabove described, for the
use and benefit of the City of Lubbock, Texas, for the purposes herein
stated, and unless accepted forthwith, the City Attorney of said City of
Lubbock is hereby authorized and instructed to institute condemnation
(eminent domain) proceedings to acquire the fee simple title to said land
as hereinabove described for public purposes and municipal purposes.
