RESOLUTION 1747 - 7/12/84
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the City of Lubbock, Texas, a Home Rule Municipality located
in Lubbock County, Texas, has determined and does hereby determine that the
public needs, safety and welfare demand and create a public necessity for
the acquisition of additional land for municipal public uses and purposes,
to -wit: for the widening of North Quaker Avenue, and this City Council of
said City finds it in the public interest and for public purposes and
municipal purposes to proceed with the acquisition of lands as needed for
such purposes as aforesaid; NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT the fee simple title to the following described
tract of land located in Lubbock County, Texas, be acquired for public
purposes and municipal purposes as set forth in the preamble hereof,
to -wit:
A tract of land located in Section 14, Block A, Lubbock County, Texas,
being a portion of the tract conveyed to Robert Richard Gressett and
Nancye J. Gressett in Volume 1600, Page 255 of the Deed Records of
Lubbock County, Texas, and being more particularly described as
follow:
BEGINNING at a set 60 penny nail which bears North a distance of 699.3
feet from the Southeast corner of Section 14, Block A, Lubbock County,
Texas, said point being the Southeast corner of said Gressett tract,
for the Southeast corner of this tract;
THENCE West, along the South line of said Gressett tract, a distance
of 51.00 feet to a point for the Southwest corner of this tract;
THENCE N. 00°03110" W. a distance of 105.25 feet to a railroad spike
set in the North line of said Gressett tract, and in the South
right-of-way line of U. S. Highway No. 84, for the Northwest corner of
this tract;
THENCE S. 56055113" E., along the North line of said Gressett tract
and along the South right-of-way line of U. S. Highway No. 84, a
distance of 60.90 feet to a 1/2" iron rod with cap marked "RPS 1676"
found at the Northeast corner of said Gressett tract, for the North-
east corner of this tract;

THENCE S. 00003'10" E., along the East line of Section 14, and along
the East line of said Gressett tract, a distance of 72.01 feet to the
POINT OF BEGINNING.
SECTION 2. THAT the owners of said tract, including Robert Richard
Gressett and Nancye J. Gressett, BE offered through the Right -of -Way
Department of the City of Lubbock the amount of $299500, which is the
amount appraised as the value and total damages for the fee simple title
and acquisition of said real estate hereinabove described, for the use and
benefit of the City of Lubbock, Texas, for the purposes herein stated, and
unless accepted forthwith, the City Attorney of said City of Lubbock is
hereby authorized and instructed to institute condemnation (eminent domain)
proceedings to acquire the fee simple title to said land as hereinabove
described for public purposes and municipal purposes.
