HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 2283 - Proposal - Texas Health Department - Promary Health Care Service Program - 03/27/1986KJ:js RESOLUTION Resolution #2283 March 27, 1986 Agenda Item #23 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lubbock wants to ensure efficient primary health care for low income individuals pursuant to available funding; and, WHEREAS, primary health care for low income individuals is made available by the State of Texas pursuant to House Bill 1844 by providing funding for dental care for low income individuals between the ages of nineteen (19) and fifty-five (55); and, WHEREAS, the Lubbock City Health Department provides dental health care only to low income individuals under the age of nineteen (19) and over the age of fifty-five (55); and, WHEREAS, the Lubbock City Health Department is the only agency within the Lubbock City limits providing dental care to low income individuals; and, WHEREAS, the State of Texas Health Department is seeking grant proposals from various local health agencies to provide primary care for low income individuals; NOW THEREFORE: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: THAT the Mayor of the City of Lubbock BE and is hereby authorized and directed to submit a proposal to the State of Texas Health Department for a primary health care service program pursuant to funding available under House Bill 1844, providing dental care services for low income individuals between the ages of nineteen (19) and fifty-five (55). BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the Lubbock City Health Department shall implement and administer such dental service program in the event the City of Lubbock's proposal is accepted and adopted by the State of Texas Health Department. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the Mayor of the City of Lubbock be authorized to sign an agreement if such dental proposal is approved and adopted. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT a copy of this resolution and any and all proposals submitted to the State of Texas Health Department for the purpose stated herewithin shall be spread upon the minutes of the City Council and as spread upon the minutes of this Council shall constitute and be a part of this resolution together with all related documents executed in accor- dance therewith.
