HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 2279 - Endorse Priority Listing Of Area Highway Improvements - 03/27/1986LJM:js RESOLUTION Resolution #2279 March 27, 1986 Agenda Item #19 A RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE HIGHWAY IMPROVEMENT PRIORITY LISTING AS ESTABLISHED BY THE HIGHWAYS, STREETS, AND ROAD COMMITTEE OF THE LUBBOCK CHAMBER OF COMMERCE. WHEREAS, the Highways, Streets, and Road Committee of the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce established a priority listing of area highway improve- ments; and WHEREAS, this recommended list of highway improvements was submitted to the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors; and WHEREAS, the City Council for the City of Lubbock after receiving the recommendations desires to endorse this highway improvement priority listing; NOW THEREFORE: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: THAT the following priority list of area highway improvements proposed by the Highways, Streets, and Road Committee of the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce be and is hereby endorsed by the City Council of the City of Lubbock: 1. Improving and widening of the corridor from Southwest Loop 289 along U.S. 82 to I-27. Major interchanges would be constructed at U.S. 62/82 and S.H. 114, at U.S. 82 and the 3rd Street/4th Street corridor, and at U.S. 82 and I-27. 2. The widening of South Loop 289 between I-27 westward to Brown- field Highway (U.S. 62/82). 3. Upgrading State Highway 114 from Dallas through Lubbock westward to the New Mexico State line. 4. Endorse and designate a rural "Outer Loop" around Lubbock by upgrading Farm to Market Highways 1585, 179, 2641 and 1729/835. 5. Funding the various highways necessary to complete the "Port to Plains" direct route from the high plains to Houston.
