AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 1.02.004 OF THE CODE OF
ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK,TEXAS,WITH REGARD TO
ESTABLISHING VOTING PRECINCT BOUNDARIES IN NEWLY ANNEXED
AREAS;CORRECTING THE BOUNDARIES OF EXISTING VOTING PRECINCTS
AFFECTED BY ANNEXATION;ESTABLISHING VOTING DISTRICT
BOUNDARIES IN NEWLY ANNEXED AREAS;PROVIDING A MAP OF THE
VOTING PRECINCTS OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK;PROVIDING THAT ALL
PORTIONS OF ARTICLE 1.02 NOT AMENDED SHALL REMAIN THE SAME;
PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE;PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION;AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS,the City of Lubbock recently annexed into the City areas of land
contiguous with the City pursuant to Ordinances Nos.2016-00054 and 2016-00059;and
WHEREAS, Section 42.061 of the Texas Election Code mandates that city voting
precinct boundaries conform to county voting precinct boundaries except where the city
limits prevent conformance;and
WHEREAS,certain changes to the Lubbock County voting precinct lines within
the City of Lubbock have been made by the Lubbock County Commissioners on April
24,2017;NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT Section 1.02.004 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Lubbock, Texas, be amended as follows with regard to the named City voting precincts:
Voting Precinct No.52.Beginning at the intersection of Indiana Avenue and 98th
Street; thence east along 98th Street to a point approximately 70 feet from the
intersection with Avenue P; thence south along a line 70 feet west of and parallel
to Avenue P a distance of approximately 1,325 feet to a point on the south city
limits; thence west along the south city limits a distance of approximately 2,570 to
a point approximately 260 feet east of Avenue U; thence south along the south

SECTION 2. THAT the Code of Ordinances of the City of Lubbock, Texas, BE
and is hereby amended by amending Subsection 1.02.004(b) to read as follows:
Voting District No. 1: Precinct Nos. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 10, 17, 18, 19, 114,
132, 159, and 181.
Voting District No. 2: Precinct Nos. 6, 20, 24, 25, 26, 29, 40, 118, 119,
and 153.
Voting District No. 3: Precinct Nos. 13, 14, 15, 16, 21, 22, 23, 27, 28, 49,
and 50.
Voting District No. 4: Precinct Nos. 12, 30, 52, 54, 60, 67, 75, 109, 122,
123, 126, 127, and 141.
Voting District No. 5: Precinct Nos. 7, 57, 62, 66, 78, 96, 104, 110, 111,
112, 124, 125, 128, 129, 138, 140, and 154.
Voting District No. 6: Precinct Nos. 9, 47, 53, 58, 59, 63, 72, 76, 92, 113,
131, 135, 143, 152, and 180.

SECTION 3. THAT the Code of Ordinances of the City of Lubbock, Texas, BE
and is hereby amended by deleting Subsection 1.02.004(c) and substituting therefor the
following:
(c) The voting precincts and voting districts set out in this section shall be
delineated on a map denominated "City of Lubbock Voting Precincts/Districts Official
Map/Effective July 15, 2017." A copy of said official map is attached to and made a part
of this Section as if fully copied herein in detail. A copy of such map shall be kept in the
office of the City Secretary and shall be available for public inspection, and at each
special and general city election, a true copy of said official map shall be furnished by the
City Secretary to each of the presiding judges of the voting precincts for such special or
general city election.
SECTION 4. THAT all portions of Article 1.02 of the Code of Ordinances of the
City of Lubbock not hereinabove altered shall remain as they are.
SECTION 5. THAT should any paragraph, section, sentence, clause, phrase of
word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason, the
remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby.
SECTION 6. THAT the City Secretary is hereby authorized and directed to cause
publication of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance as an alternative method of
publication provided by law.
