WHEREAS, the City Council did reconstitute the Board of City Develop-
ment as a result of the passage of Ordinance No. 8859; and
WHEREAS, Marjorie Kastman and Dr. Mason Somerville were appointed to
serve as initial members of the reconstituted Board of City Development; and
WHEREAS, Marjorie Kastman has served as both chairperson and vice
chairperson of the Board of City Development; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Mason Somerville has served on the Industrial Attraction
Committee of the Board of City Development; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Kastman and Dr. Somerville have given unselfishly of
their time and efforts to advance the work of the Board of City Development;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the work of both Mrs. Kastman and
Dr. Somerville exemplifies and embodies the highest standards of service to
the City and its citizens; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that such work, as aforesaid, on the
part of Mrs. Kastman and Dr. Somerville has laid the foundation for a strong
Board of City Development which will contribute to the growth and
development of this City; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that both Mrs. Kastman and Dr.
Somerville should be commended for their service to the City as aforesaid;
NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
THAT the high quality of public service and leadership rendered by
both Mrs. Kastman and Dr. Somerville is hereby recognized by the City
Council of the City of Lubbock and both Mrs. Kastman and Dr. Somerville are
to be commended for the impeccable public service and leadership rendered
while members of the Board of City Development; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
THAT the City Council of the City of Lubbock does hereby go on record
setting forth its admiration and appreciation for the many faithful hours of
service rendered by Mrs. Kastman and Dr. Somerville to the City of Lubbock
through their service on the Board of City Development; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
THAT the work of Mrs. Kastman and Dr. Somerville as members of the
Board of City Development has been instrumental in laying the foundation for
a strong Board of City Development which Board is so vital to the economic
vitality of the City of Lubbock; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
THAT the citizens of the City of Lubbock owe a special debt of
gratitude to Mrs. Kastman, Dr. Somerville and the original members of the
reconstituted Board of City Develoment for their work in molding the Board
into a viable force contributing to the economic well being of the City and
its citizens.
