WHEREAS, the Lubbock Lake Site, an important archaeological site
located within the Lubbock city limits, is listed on the National
Register of Historic Places, and has been designated as a State
Archaeological Landmark and National Historic Landmark; and
WHEREAS, the archaeological significance of the Lubbock Lake
Landmark is recognized internationally since it is one of the few sites
known in North America which contains evidence of continuous human
occupation for 12,000 years; and
WHEREAS, the Texas Parks and
Master Plan to develop the Lubbock

WHEREAS, the development of the Lubbock Lake Landmark is a result
of efforts of many Lubbock citizens, Texas Tech University, the City of
Lubbock, and the Texas Parks and Wildlife, much of the credit for this
project's becoming a reality is attributed to one individual; and
WHEREAS, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission has recognized the
significant contribution by Robert A. "Bob" Nash by naming the
interpretive center in his honor; and
WHEREAS, Bob Nash has been Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce's
Lake Site Committee and President of the Lubbock Lake Site Development
Corporation since 1971 when the project was adopted as one of the
community's goals for the 701s; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Nash has been a
Lake Site, proclaiming not only its
significance, but also enlightening

project to fruition.
