HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 4582 - Restructures Community Development Advisory Committee, Two Reps For Each Sector - 08/25/1994Resolution No. 4582 Item #9 August 25, 1994 RESOLUTION WHEREAS, a Community Development Advisory Committee was created by the City Council of Lubbock, November 13, 1974, by Resolution, which has been amended by Resolutions No. 188, 823, 996, and 2034; and WHEREAS, the goals and policies established by the Lubbock City Council for the fiscal year 1993-94 recommend evaluating the current makeup of the Community Development Advisory Committee; and WHEREAS, the Community Development Advisory Committee has recommended that two representatives from the elderly population and two representatives from the disabled population should be appointed just as two representatives are appointed from each for the six sectors; and WHEREAS, the Community Development Advisory Committee has recommended that ex -officio members be appointed to add relevant expertise to subcommittees in the areas of marketing, special issues, program and fiscal review, and economic development/loan review; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lubbock finds that it is in the best interests of the citizens of the City of Lubbock to restructure the Community Development Advisory Committee; NOW THEREFORE: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: THAT the Community Development Advisory Committee shall be composed of a Chairman; twelve (12) citizens representing six (6) City Sectors to include two (2)citizens from each Sector; two persons from the elderly population; and two persons from the disabled population; for a total of seventeen (17) members, all of who shall be appointed by the Mayor and the City Council. Members shall serve two-year staggered terms, expiring June 1, with all members eligible for reappointment. THAT the Mayor and City Council shall also appoint as ex -officio, non voting members of the Community Development Advisory Committee the president of the Lubbock United Neighborhood Association and one representative from each Target Neighborhood(s). The Target Neighborhood representative(s) will commence their term(s) atter the Target Area(s) are approved by the City Council and their term(s) will officially end when their neighborhoods cease to be targeted areas. THAT four standing subcomittees of the Community Development Advisory Committee shall be created in the areas of Marketing, Economic Development, Special Issues, and Program and Fiscal Review.
