AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 20 "TRAFFIC" OF THE
CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, TEXAS, BY
AMENDING DIVISION 4 "RESIDENT PARKING ONLY PROGRAM" BY
PROVIDING ADDITIONAL ZONES AND CORRECTING ONE BOUNDARY OF
AN EXISTING ZONE; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; PROVIDING A
PENALTY; AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lubbock initiated the Resident
Parking Only Program (RPOP) to address existing parking conditions that create
traffic and pedestrian hazards, place unreasonable burdens on residents with excess
neighborhood parking, and various other dangers and risks that exist or may occur;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lubbock recognizes that the City
of Lubbock will periodically need to amend, or add to, existing RPOP zones due to
ever-changing traffic situations and ongoing development in the City of Lubbock; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lubbock, Texas deems it in the
best interest of the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Lubbock to make the
following amendment to Chapter 20 of the Code of Ordinances with regard to traffic;
NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT Section 20.04.111(b) of the Code of Ordinances of
the City of Lubbock, Texas, is hereby amended as follows:
Sec. 20.04.111 Purpose and allowable locations
(b) The allowable locations for the resident parking only program shall be limited to
eight (8) residential zones defined as follows:

SECTION 2. THAT a violation of any provision of this Ordinance shall
be deemed a misdemeanor punishable in accordance with state law and Section
1.01.004 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Lubbock.
SECTION 3. THAT should any paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase or
work of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason, the
remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby.
SECTION 4. THAT the City Secretary is hereby authorized to cause
publication of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance as an alternative method
provided by law.
