HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 2017-O0052 - Amending Chapter 20 - Traffic, Parking, Stopping, And Standing - 05/11/2017First Reading Second Reading April27,2017 May 11,2017 Item No.6.25 Item No.6.17 ORDINANCENO.2013*00052 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 20 "TRAFFIC"OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK,TEXAS,BY AMENDING ARTICLE 20.04 "PARKING,STOPPING AND STANDING"TO PROHIBIT PARKING WITHIN CERTAIN DISTANCES FROM DRIVEWAYS;PROVIDING A PENALTY;PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE;AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION. WHEREAS,Chapter 20, Article 20.04 of the Code of Ordinances for the City of Lubbock sets forth the traffic laws for parking, stopping and standing; and WHEREAS,the Code of Ordinances sets forth parking regulations within the limits of the City of Lubbock;and WHEREAS,the City Council of the City of Lubbock,Texas deems it in the best interest of the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Lubbock to make the following amendment to Chapter 20 of the Code of Ordinances with regard to traffic; NOW THEREFORE: BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. THAT Article 20.04 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Lubbock, Texas,is hereby amended to add the following parking regulation and renumber Article 20.04 accordingly: Sec.20.04.004 Parking near driveways No person shall park a vehicle, except in compliance with law or direction of a police officer or traffic-control device, within three (3) feet of any public or private driveway. SECTION 2.THAT a violation of any provision of this Ordinance shall be deemed a misdemeanor punishable in accordance with Section 1.01.004 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Lubbock. SECTION 3. THAT should any paragraph, section, clause, phrase or word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason,the remainder of the Ordinance shall not be affected thereby. SECTION 4. THAT the City Secretary of the City of Lubbock, Texas, is hereby authorized and directed to cause publication of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance as an alternative means of publication provided by law.
