RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the South Plains Association of Governments (hereinafter called
"SPAG") in conjunction with the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission
(hereinafter called the "TNRCC") is accepting grant application proposals for the fiscal
year 2000 Solid Waste Grants Program to accomplish certain Solid Waste Management
projects contemplated by the Texas Legislature, as such bill relates; and
WHEREAS, the City of Lubbock is dedicated to the preservation and protection
of its natural resources and to providing its residents with opportunities to reduce the
amount of waste produced, to re -use materials and to recycle what can be locally
recycled; and
WHEREAS, the City of Lubbock supports the program as identified in the city
of Lubbock's proposal, to accomplish local and regional solid waste goals, for the fiscal
year 2000 Solid Waste Grant program; and
WHEREAS, the City of Lubbock would show its support in using its best
efforts to:
1) Comply with the provisions of the fiscal reimbursement and reporting
requirements of SPAG, the TNRCC and the State of Texas; and
2) Use the funds for purposes for which they are provided; and
3) Ensure project is in compliance with and supports local and/or regional
solid waste management plans and programs applicable to SPAG region.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF LUBBOCK:
THAT the City of Lubbock does hereby support and authorize the City of
Lubbock Solid Waste Department to submit a grant application to SPAG for the
purpose of purchasing equipment to promote and enhance the City of Lubbock
Recycling Program.
