AGENDA ITEM SUMMARY
ITEM #/ SUMMARY:
# Consider a resolution approving the Community Development Department's
recommendation for changes to the City of Lubbock 1999 HUD Action Plan, and
reallocation of 1999 CDBG grant funds.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
The Community Development Department is requesting approval to shift CDBG
funds from various CDBG projects into the sidewalk project in order to complete
the sidewalk program in the current targeted areas. Since the new targeted
areas come into effect in October, we want to shift funds to finish this project
before September 30, 2000.
Currently we are working in Arnett Benson, Jackson Mahon, Harwell, Chatman,
and Heart of Lubbock. By shifting $62,000 from other CDBG activities it will
allow us to finish up sidewalks identified for replacement in these neighborhoods.
Funds have been identified from the following projects, all of which are either
located in internal Department or completed projects; no funds will be shifted
from outside agency projects that are still underway.
Proposed shifts:
$10,000 from 1997 Neighborhood Beautification
$10,000 from 1998 Neighborhood Beautification
$ 8,000 from 1998 Replacement Reserves
$14,000 from Interfaith Hospitality Acquisition (completed under budget)
$20.000 from 1998 Rental Reconstruction
$62,000 placed into 1999 sidewalk project
SUMMARY/RECOMMENDATION:
Community Development recommends approval of these funding
recommendations to allow completion of work in current targeted areas before
we enter the new target areas in October.
