CITY OF LUBBOCK
AGENDA ITEM SUMMARY
ITEM WSUBJECT
Consider a resolution authorizing the Right-of-way Department to make an
offer to Ron and Rick Betenbough for a 7.928 -acre tract of land for a City
Park in Section 9, Block J -S, Lubbock County (1701 Kirby Avenue).
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
This 7.928 -acre tract of land is being purchased for a park site in the Northridge
School area. This area is north of 19th Street, south of 11"' Street, between
Milwaukee Avenue and Iola Avenue. This park site was appraised by Tommy
Cantrell, MAI for $170,000. This equates to approximately $21,443 per acre. He
utilized recent sales of subdivision and acreage land in the surrounding area.
Large acreage sales were around the $5,000 to $7,000 per acre range while
small acre sales were in the $20,000 to $27,000 range. Therefore, our offer to
the Betenbough's is $170,000.
SUMMARY/RECOMMENDATION:
The Right -of -Way Department recommends the approval of our offer to Ron and
Rick Betenbough.
