ORDINANCE NO,. 1104
AN ORDINANCE1 AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 955 WHICH DESIGNATES
"THE CITY VEHICLE AND EMPLOYEE PARKING AREA" IN THE VICINITY OF
THE POLICE STATION, FIRE STATION AND CITY HALL SO AS TO ADD TO
SUCH AREA THE DRIVEWAY AND PARKING AREA BETWEEN THE NORTH
SIDE OF THE CENTRAL FIRE STATION AND THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE
POLICE STATION, AND BETWEEN THE EAST SIDE OF THE CENTRAL FIRE
STATION AND THE CURB ADJACENT TO THE WEST SIDE .OF THE ALLEY
WEST OF THE CITY HALL; AND MAKING SUCH AREA SUBJECT TO ALL PRO
VISIONS OF ORDINANCE .NO. 955 EXCEPT SECTION 5 THER~OF; PROVIDING
A PENALTY; DEClARING AN EMERGENCY; AND DIRECTING PUB.UCATION.
WHEREAS, the City of Lubbock has recently improved the area lying
between the North side of the Central Fire Station and 1he South side of the
Police Station# and between the East side of said Fire Station and the curb on the
West side of the alley West of the City Hall, for use of c ·ity officials and employ
ees in the promotion of public health, safety and welfare, and said area is
designed and needed as a private driveway and parking place for motor vehicles
under control of the City of Lubbock; and various persons are parking privately
owned motor vehicles in the area, which impedes the progress of necessary
functions of the City of Lubbock under direction of the City Manager, the Direc
tor of Public Works, and other officials and employees, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMJSSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT Ordinance No. 955 BE, and the same is hereby
amended by adding Section l~A, as follows:
nsECTION 1-A. The private driveway and parking area between the
North side of the Central Fire Station and the South side of the Police Station,
which runs East and West through the West One-half (W 1/2) of Block 87, Original
Town of Lubbock; and the private driveway and parking area between the East
side of the Central Fire Station and the curb adjacent to the West side of the
alley West of the City Hall, which runs North and South through the South One
half (S 1/2) of Block 87, Original Town of Lubbock; is hereby designated and
included within 1The City Vehicle and Employee Parking Area.'"
SECTION 2. All provisions of Ordinance No. 955 shall apply to the
private driveway and parking area designated by this amendment, except Section
5 of Ordinance No. 955, which relates to a definite parking place for police cars.
'SECTION 3. Except as provided by the provisions of Ordinance No. 955
as amended by this ordinance, whoever shall park any motor vehicle or other
vehicle in the .,City Vehicle and Employee Parking Area" between the hours of
6:00A.M. and 6:00 P. M. (Saturday afternoons and Sundays excepted) shall ,
upon conviction, be fined in any sum not exceeding Two Hundred, Dollars ($200).
l....,__/ SECTION 4. The fact that the provisions of this ordinance deal with the
use of City owned property and the necessary use of such property by City owned
or controlled vehicles, and sundry persons are obstructing such use of said area

by using it as a place for parking privately owned vehicles not used in the City's
business, creates an emergency affecting department~ directly engaged in the
promotion of public health and safety; and this ordinance shall become effective
o~ the date of its passage, as provided by Article 9, Section 18, of the Charter
of the City of Lubbock, and all rules and other provisions requiring more than
one reading of this ordinance are. hereby suspended.
SECTION 5. The City Secretary is directed to publish this ordinance
forthwith.
