ORDINANCE NO. 6270
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 33A OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES,
ITY OF LUBBOCK, (BEING THE UNIFORM MECHANICAL CODE AS ADOPTED
Y ORr--'i--NANCE NO. 5462) BY PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF THE 1970
DITION OF THE UNIFORM BUILDING CODE, VOLUME II, THE UNIFORM MECI
LAICAL CODE; PROVIDING FOR AMENDMENTS TO SUCH 1970 EDITION; PRO-
IDING FOR PUBLICATION AND PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lubbock has found that the present
echanical Code of the City of Lubbock has become obsolete and inadequate; 2.,td
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that the 1970 Edition of the
Tniform Building Code, Volume II, The Uniform Mechanical Code, with amenc-ner,
s shown herein, should be adopted; NOW THEREFORE
E IT ORDA-,NED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF' THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1® THAT Section 33A.-I of the Code of Ordinances, City of Lubbock',
exas., BE and is hereby amended to read as follows: I
"THAT the 1970 EditioJa of the Uniform Building Code, Volume II, The
Tniform Mechanical Code, as copyrighted in 1970 by the International Conference
f Building Officials, Pasadena, California and the International Association of
'lumbing and Mechanical Officials of Los Angeles, California, along with the Appje
ices thereto, as hereinafter amended,, is specifically adopted as the Mechanical
"ode of the City of Lubbock, Texas, and a copy is attached hereto and incorporate�
erein by reference as though set out completely in detail. A copy of said Unifor
lechanical Code shall be filed with the City Secretary and a copy maintained in the
ffice of the Building Inspector of the City of Lubbock, Texas, all such copies to
e open to public inspection during business hours of the offices where they are
-laintained, with the following amendments thereto: it
Whenever reference is made in this Chapter to "The Uniform Mechanical
Code, 1967 Edition" or to the "Jniform Mechanical Code, " such referenc(
shall hereafter be to the 1970 Edition of the Uniform Building Code,
Volume II, The Uniform Mechanical Code. "
(a) Section 202 of the Uniform Mechanical Code, 1970 Edition, is
hereby ;amended by amending the second paragraph thereof to
read as follows:
"Any person, firm or corporation violating any provisions of this
code shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and each such
person shall be deemed guilty of a separate offense for each and
every day or portion thereof during which any violation of any of
the provisions of this Code is committed, continued, or permitted
and upon conviction of any such violation such person shall be
punishable by

SECTION 3. THAT the City Secretary is hereby authorized to cause publica-
