HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 112-1914 - Granting The Marshal Power And Authority To Regulate Hawkers, ETC. - 05_14_1914O R D I N A N C E N O. 1 1ANORDINANCEGRANTINGTOTHEMARMALOFTHECITY OF LUBBOCK 'POWERANDAUTHORITYTOREGULATEANDCONTROLHAMRS, PEDi7 M S, PAWNBROKERS, BEEPERS OF THEATRICAL DR OTHER EXHIBITIONS, SHOWS AND AMUSM ENTS, STREETCARNIVALS, THEATERS, CIRCUSSES, THE EXHIBITIONS OF NATURAL OR ARTIFICIALCURIOSITIES, CARAVANS, MENAGERIES, AND MUSICAL EXHIBITIONS AND PERFORM ANCES, WITAIWTHE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK; AND ALSO FULL POWER AND AUTHORITY TO SUPPRESS, PRL+''VEyiTT AND PROHIBIT ALL OF SUCH AS ARE ABOVE MENTIONED AT SUCH TIMES AS HE MAY BE DIRECTED 30 TO DO BY ORDER OR RESOLUTION DULY PASSED AT REGULAR OR SPECIAL MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUN— CIL, AND MAKING IT THE DZTY OF THE MARSHAL TO EXECUTE ALL SUCH ORMS. Be it Ordained by the City Council of the City of -Lubbock, Texas: -- Section 1. That the Marshal of the City , of Lubbock is hereby granted full power and ua.thority to regulate and control hawkers, pedd a dlers, pawnbrokers, keepers of theatrical or other exhibitions, shows and amusements, street carnivals, theaters, a ircusee s, the exhibition of natural or artifioial curio si tie s, caravan s, menagerie B, and musical exhibitions and performances, within the City of Lubbock, at such times and in such manner and to such extent as he may be commanded so to do by order or resolution duly passed at a sdgtAdroor special meeting of the City Council of said City by the said Council. Section 2. That the Marshal of the City of Lubbock is hereby granted full poorer and authority to suppress,, prevent, and prohibit hawkers, peddlers, pawnbrokers, keepers of theatrical or other zkmm exhibitions, shows and amusements, street carnivals, theaters, circusses the exhibitions of natural or artificial curiosities, caravans, menag— eries, and musical exhibitions and performances, within the Limits of the City of Lubbbck, at such times and in such manner as he may be eonnanded so to do by order or resolution of the City Council of the said City duly passed at a Regular or Special Meeting or meetings of said City Council. Section 3. That it is hereby made the duty of the Marshal of the City of Lubbock to obey and fully execute all such orders or reso— lutions as may be from time to time passed by the City Council of said City under and by virtue of sections one and two of this Ordinance, and he is hereby authorized to use such force as may be necessary to gat use in carrying into execution any and all of such orders or resolutions.
