AGENDA ITEM SUMMARY
II. CONSENT AGENDA
ITEM #/SUBJECT:
# ITB #2007.2 - Transit Schedule Holders
BACKGROUND DISCUSSION:
This bid is for the purchase of nine hundred (900) transit schedule holders to be
used by Citibus. In an effort to make Citibus bus stops more passenger friendly,
Citibus will place transit schedule holders on all bus stop signs. The transit
schedule holders will contain information that specifies when the bus will arrive
at that particular stop and what routes stop there. Citibus will include the phone
number for route information and the Citibus website address. Citibus feels that
it would be helpful to our passengers and potential passenger to know exactly
what time the bus stops at the place where they need to catch the bus.
The bid was advertised twice in Passenger Transport, the national transit weekly
publication. Two companies submitted bids.
The bids came in as follows:
Low bid to meet all specifications was Transit Information Products.
This information was presented to the Lubbock Public Transit Advisory Board at
their April 24, 2007, meeting.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds to purchase the transit schedule holders will be taken from grant funds. It
is required that one percent of grant funding be used for passenger amenities.
The required local match has already been included in the Citibus budget.
Acceptance of this grant will result in no additional cost to the City of Lubbock.
