Cc: Ron Bray; Glenn Grant Subject: Grit Pump Solenoid Good Morning Rich, Last week I believe Ron discussed the solenoid valve for the seal water to the grit pumps with you. This solenoid was specified to be a normally open valve when it appears that it needs to be a normally closed valve, which will open the valve when the grit pump is running. The WEIR Pump representative has confirmed that the seal water has to circulate through the pump seal to properly protect the seal. Do you have any direction for Eagle to make any changes to this solenoid ? Please advise. Thanks. Respectfully, Harlan Ennis Eagle Contracting, L.P. Project Supt. The reason for the fault was that the wire that runs from the fuses to the vacuum switch from the to the auto transformer from the auto transformer back to the vacuum switch from the vacuum switch to the motor leads are #8. These will need to be changed to #2. The way it stands the #8 will not carry the load it is only good for 60 amps. We need to be able to carry the starting current. In order to handle the new loads, GE has recommended replacing the auto transformers, power fuses and cabling for the existing starters inside this gear and alga reprogramming the multi lins: Per the requesf of the.__ Owner during our October 07, 2009 progress meeting, this proposal only modifies three of the existing switchgear sections and does not include the section for the future blower. Please note that this proposal only includes modifications to the MCLU's. All upstream wiring, fusing, substations and service conductors need to be verified for load adequacy. The cost to perform this work is Seventy Three Thousand Six Hundred Ninety Five Dollars and Forty -Five Cents ($73,695.45). It is anticipated that it will take seven to nine weeks after approval of this PCM to complete this work. As noted in Mr. Glenn Grant's Ietter to Black and Veatch dated September 06, 2009 this work is on the "Critical Path" for this project and has directly delayed Eagle Contracting in completing this project since September 17, 2009 when this issue was originally discovered. Are the400amp loads being re -fed from another location or deleted? There is not any space available in the new sections for a 4th breaker. A new section will be required, or one of the new sections will have to be replaced with another section of different construction. I need you to put the following into a RFL Sheet E6 Substations ITU and 2TL3,show three feeds exiting the substations MCC -500A, MCC -1000 and MCC -800; The plant added another Lift Station to the Substations that didn't make the old as builds. asked Square D to come out to see if we could add another breaker and was told the only fix was: 1 Add another section to the substation with a 400amp breaker i Or 2 Add a disconnecting means to the end of the substation be it a breaker or fused disconnect in a cabinet by it's self. (Additional Information. Second Request) Dear Laura: Per your request in your e-mail to me dated 10-15-09, attached is the additional information and cost breakdowns for the above referenced PCM -038. Concerning your Item No. I about the cost of the proposed Circuit Breakers, Acme Electric did have overhead and profit built into this cost. Per your Item No. 2 Acme has revised their cost proposal to show a separate line item for overhead and profit. Per your Item No. 3 they have also revised their labor breakdown to show man-hours and labor burden. Also attached is a written quote from Acme's supplier showing the direct cost of the two proposed Circuit Breakers and a listing of all the material included in the breaker. Note that Acme is quoting Solid State Circuit Breakers with all the associated parts and pieces to match the specified breakers already installed in the two new Substations. If Black and Veatch wants to explore different types of breakers please provide the specifications and data you wish included or excluded from them and Acme will get their supplier to requote the breakers based on this new data. Let me know if you require any further information. Sincerely, 00aM ,r Dave Mullenix Eagle Contracting L.P. cc: File (Proposals) & Field P.O.
