RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Section 143.006 of the Local Government Code requires
appointment of persons to the Civil Service Commission of the City of Lubbock to be
made by the municipality's chief executive and confirmed by the municipality's governing
body; NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
THAT the City Council of the City of Lubbock hereby confirms the appointment
of Dawn Moore by City Manager Lee Ann Dumbauld, for a term of office of three years
as a member of the Civil Service Commission of the City of Lubbock.
Passed by the City Council this 20th day of October , 2009.

Resolution - Board Appointment : Consider a resolution confirming the City
Manager's appointment of Dawn M. Moore to the Civil Service Commission.

Dawn Moore has been a resident of Lubbock since 1999. Ms. Moore is currently
the Vice President of Human Resources for US Foodservice in Lubbock, and has
over 15 years of management experience including 17+ years in Human
Resources. Included in her 17+ years of human resources experience she has
worked as Associate Director of Equal Employment Opportunity at Texas Tech
University, Director of Human Resources at Citibus, Project Coordinator for
Convergent Communications in Englewood, Colorado, Human Resources
Manager for Holiday Inn Central in Denver, Colorado, and Program Coordinator,
Victim Rights and Witness Assistance for the Office of the Attorney General of
the State of Arizona. She has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Justice Studies,
has received Human Resources Management Certification, and has received
additional professional training. She has served on several Lubbock community
organization boards including Leadership Lubbock, United Way Program Review
and Funding Allocation, Goodwill Industries Job Creations Program and Employer
Advisory Committee, and a Meals on Wheels Volunteer. She currently serves
with the Society for Human Resource Management both the National and
Lubbock Chapters.
Ms. Moore has been an Instructor of Strategic Management at Texas Tech
University, an Instructor of Compensation and Benefits Course at Texas Tech
University, and an Instructor of Human Resource Development at Texas Tech
University.
The Commission members ratify rules and standards applicable to classified civil
service positions in the Fire and Police departments and the enforcement and
effect of the Civil Service statutes. Members are appointed by the City Manager
as per Texas Local Government Code 143.006, and ratified by the governing
body.
The term of appointment is three years, and meetings are held as needed. Three
members of the Commission as required by law and the Director of the
Commission is Vickie Bennett.
