AGENDA ITEM SUMMARY
H. CONSENT AGENDA
ITEM #/SUBJECT:
# Consider a resolution authorizing Citibus to purchase ten bus shelters from Lacor
Streetscape, (Citibus)
BACKGROUND DISCUSSION:
In an effort to make bus stops more passenger friendly and add passenger amenities
throughout the City of Lubbock, Citibus would like to purchase ten bus shelters from
Lacor Streetscape for $69,803. Citibus has purchased shelters from Lacor Streetscape in
the past. The shelters that Citibus intends to purchase are the open red shelters that can
be seen at various bus stops in the City, and this continues our ongoing bus shelter
placement project. The open concept allows for air flow during the hot summer months.
The City of Lubbock/Citibus is estimated to receive $3,905,453 as part of the Federal
government's economic recovery package. Funds for economic recovery can only be
used for capital expenses, and cannot be used for operating expenses. It is Citibus'
intention to use funds from the economic stimulus to purchase ten bus shelters. Citibus
has pre -award authority for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) or
Federal economic recovery funds.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The funding for the shelters will come from ARRA funds. No local match is required on
ARRA funds. Approval of this resolution will result in no additional cost to the City of
Lubbock.
SUMMARY/RECOMMENDATION:
The Lubbock Public Transit Advisory Board and Citibus recommend that a purchase
order for $69,803 be issued to Lacor Strectscape to purchase ten bus shelters.
