WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lubbock has determined that it is in the best
interest of the citizens of the City of Lubbock to renew an interlocal agreement with the Lubbock
County Hospital District, d/b/a University Medical Center ("UMC"), entitled "Lubbock County
Medical Indigent Program Provider Agreement," originally adopted pursuant to Resolution No.
2013-RO278, effective September 14, 2013.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK THAT the Mayor
is hereby authorized and directed to execute a renewal of the Lubbock County Medical Indigent
Program Provider Agreement, and any associated documents.

ITEM# / SUBJECT:
Consider a resolution authorizing and directing the Mayor to execute a renewal of the Lubbock
County Medical Indigent Program Provider Agreement to provide certain public health services for
indigent residents of Lubbock County.
BACKGROUND / DISCUSSION:
This renewal agreement will provide the City of Lubbock Health Department the opportunity to
continue partnership with University Medical Center to provide a facility that is more easily
accessible to the public who are in need of immunization and sexually transmitted disease services.
Through this renewal agreement the Health Department will provide four of the ten Essential Public
Health Services. These three services include(s): 1.Inform, educate, and empower people about
health issues, 2. Link people to needed personal health services, 3. Mobilize community
partnerships and action to identify and solve health problems, and 4. Diagnose and investigate
health problems and health hazards in the community.

This renewal applies to an Agreement entered into between the LUBBOCK COUNTY HOSPITAL
DISTRICT, d/b/a UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER ("UMC") and the CITY OF LUBBOCK on
behalf of its HEALTH DEPARTMENT (`Provider") entitled "Lubbock County Medical Indigent
Program Provider Agreement," (Resolution No. 2013-RO278), effective September 14, 2013.
The parties renew the Agreement for an additional term of one year beginning October I, 2014 and
continuing through September 30, 2015.
All terms and conditions of the Agreement shall continue in full force and effect.
