RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the City Council has heretofore authorized certain City
representatives, employees and/or officers of the City of Lubbock to sign checks for
payment on behalf of the City of Lubbock in accordance with applicable City Charter
provisions;
WHEREAS, the City Council now deems it in the best interest of the public
health, safety and welfare of the citizens of the City of Lubbock that certain changes be
instituted with regards to those City representatives, employees and/or officers of the City
of Lubbock empowered to sign checks for payment on behalf of the City of Lubbock;
NOW THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1: THAT, pursuant to Chapter 1, Article IX, §§ 23, 24 and Chapter 1,
Article X, § 4(f) of the City Charter of the City of Lubbock, all payroll checks issued by'
the City of Lubbock shall be signed by the Mayor, Mayor Pro Tem, City Manager or the
City Manager's deputy and countersigned by the Chief Financial Officer or, in the
absence of the Chief Financial Officer, the Chief Financial Officer's deputy, unless
otherwise provided by law; and
SECTION 2: THAT, all other checks issued by the City of Lubbock, save and
except those checks subject to Section 3 below, shall be signed by the Mayor, Mayor Pro
Tem, City Manager or the City Manager's deputy and countersigned by the Chief
Financial Officer or, in the absence of the Chief Financial Officer, the Chief Financial
Officer's deputy, unless otherwise provided by law; and
SECTION 3: THAT, all checks issued by the Electric Utility Department and
Utility Billing and Collections Department of the City of Lubbock, except those subject
to Section 1 above, shall be signed by the Mayor, Mayor Pro Tem, City Manager or the
City Manager's deputy and countersigned by the Chief Executive Officer/Director of
Electric Utilities of the Electric Utility or, in the absence of the Chief Executive
Officer/Director of Electric Utilities, the Chief Operations Officer or, in the absence of
the Chief Operations Officer, the Chief Operations Officer's deputy, unless otherwise
provided by law; and
SECTION 4: THAT said persons and their successors are hereby authorized to
execute signature cards and such other documents as may be required to carry out the
purposes of this Resolution.
