HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 2003-R0140 - Resolution Supporting Medicaid Community-Based Programs At Current Funding - 04/10/2003Resolution No. 2003—RO140 April 10, 2003 Item No. 17 RESOLUTION WHEREAS: People with disabilities are a valuable part of the community; and, WHEREAS: Lubbock gains strength through inclusion and integration of people with disabilities in our community; and WHEREAS: The Supreme Court ruled in 1999 that States must provide services to people with disabilities in the most integrated setting possible; NOW THEREFORE: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. THAT the City Council of the City of Lubbock, Texas, hereby supports Medicaid community-based programs at their current level of funding, so that people with disabilities can continue to be active participants and contributors to the daily life of this State's towns and cities. SECTION 2. THAT the City of Lubbock confirms that people should be free from being forced into nursing homes and other institutions because of the lack of community-based programs.
