RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the South Plains Homeless Consortium is applying for
membership into the Texas Homeless Network; and
WHEREAS, the Consortium has been in existence for over ten years,
and its membership includes agencies such as the Salvation Army, SPAG,
Community Development, MHMR, South Plains Food Bank, and many
others; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the Consortium is to try and identify and
assist the homeless population, and to be an advocate; and
WHEREAS, the South Plains Homeless Consortium has reorganized
and is trying to become more active, the membership to the Homeless
Network will better assist them in completing their mission; and
WHEREAS, the City of Lubbock desires to endorse the South Plains
Homeless Consortium in order to assist in its efforts to apply for
membership into the Texas Homeless Network; NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
THAT the City Council of the City of Lubbock does hereby recognize the South
Plains Homeless Consortium (formerly Lubbock Homeless Consortium) as Lubbock's
representative for homeless issues. Said Agreement is attached hereto and incorporated
in this resolution as if fully set forth herein and shall be included in the minutes of the
City Council.
Passed by the City Council this 13th day of February , 2003.
