RESOLUTION
WHEREAS the City Council of the City of Lubbock is concerned for the safety of
motorists on the streets of the City of Lubbock; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has requested that the Planning and Zoning
Commission study the issue of placement of electronic message signs and recommend
alternatives for an ordinance amending the Zoning Code regarding the spacing and
placement of these electronic signs; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lubbock desires to suspend the
issuance of electronic sign permits for a period of time, not to exceed six months, while
studying this issue; NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
THAT the issuance of permits for electronic signs shall be suspended until an
Ordinance is passed by the City Council amending the Zoning Code regarding the
spacing of signs or until September 15, 2005, whichever shall first occur.
