RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the Ports to Plains Trade Corridor, a four -lane, uninterrupted divided
highway that will link Canada and with Mexico and will pass through Lubbock, is an
important transportation and economic development initiative for our city; and
WHEREAS, the Ports to Plains Trade Corridor Coalition (a Corporation) is
governed by a 19 member Board of Directors comprised of representatives of
municipalities and other entities, including a representative from Lubbock; and
WHEREAS, the resignation of Randy Neugebauer as Lubbock's representative on
the Ports to Plains Trade Corridor Coalition's Board of Directors has created a vacancy;
and
WHEREAS, it is the responsibility of the Lubbock City Council to nominate an
individual to fill the duties of this board member with the understanding that bylaws
require the Ports to Plains Board of Directors to approve the nomination; NOW
THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT the City Council of Lubbock hereby nominates the following
named individual to serve on the Board of Directors of the Ports to the Plains Trade
Corridor Coalition in place of Randy Neugebauer, who has resigned due to his election to
the United States Congress.
NOMINEE: Tom Martin
SECTION 2. THAT the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to
provide a copy of this Resolution and appropriate backup materials to the Board of
Directors of the Port to Plains Trade Corridor Coalition.
Passed by the City Council of the City of Lubbock this 28thday of August , 2003.
