July 7, 2003
Item No. 3
RESOLUTION
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
THAT the City Council of the City of Lubbock believes that there are too many
incidences of inappropriate, unfair, and ridiculously high property values that have been imposed
on the citizens of Lubbock in this year's appraisal process by the Lubbock Central Appraisal
District (LCAD); and
THAT the City Council of the City of Lubbock believes that the Appraisal District Board
of Directors, W.B. Criswell, LeRoy Montoya, Arlee Jackson, and Regina Johnston, and the Chief
Appraiser, Dave Kimbrough and his staff of appraisers have allowed this situation to exist in
Lubbock; and
THAT IT IS THE DESIRE AND INTENT of the City Council of the City of Lubbock to
commit to lowering the current tax rate at least by an amount to offset the current increase in
appraisals on existing property; and
THAT the City Council of the City of Lubbock calls on the LCAD Board of Directors
to exercise its duty and ensure that all Lubbock appraisals are fair and equitable.
