HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 2003-R0053 - Citizen Advisory Committee Amendments - 01/23/2003Resolution No. 2003-80053 January 23, 2003 Item No. 57 RESOLUTION WHEREAS, City Councils have received valuable contributions from Citizen Advisory Committees in the past in studying capital improvement programs for the City of Lubbock; and WHEREAS, the services of a Citizen Advisory Committee continue to be a valid method of determining needed capital improvements for the City's vitality; and WHEREAS, it is beneficial for a Citizen Advisory Committee to make recommendations to the City Council for capital improvement needs for a 5 -year period, including methods of financing the projects; and WHEREAS, the City Council heretofore on the 26th day of September, 2002, pursuant to Resolution 2002-RO395 created a new Citizen Advisory Committee; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lubbock now desires to further define the subcommittee assignments for the Citizen Advisory Committee; NOW THEREFORE: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. THAT a Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC) composed of thirty — five (35) members was created by Resolution 2002-RO395 passed on September 26, 2002. The subcommittees established by Section 1 of said Resolution 2002-RO395 shall be renamed and organized as follows. The Citizen Advisory Committee shall be divided into a minimum of three (3), up to five (5) subcommittees to study the capital improvements indicated below: 1) Finance 2) Streets - critical segments of thoroughfares, small stretches of roads and other components like streetscape improvements 3) Civic Centers/Public Venues 4) Public Safety — primarily Police and Fire, other safety related projects as needed 5) Parks and Libraries The Mayor and City Council shall appoint the overall chairman. The subcommittee will appoint chairmen from among the members appointed to each subcommittee. SECTION 2. THAT all other provisions of Resolution 2002-RO395 not amended hereby shall remain in full force and effect.
