2. SUPPORT
Legislation we expect to be introduced by other entities.
S-1. Support legislation to allow cities the same interlocal agreement rights for
fires services, which are currently available for police services between
governmental entities.
S-2. Support simplified statewide liability rules governing interlocal and
mutual aid all -hazards response when a state or federal disaster is
declared. This would allow all government agencies to respond to the
highest level emergencies in their region, without fear of unreasonable
liability to its taxpayers.
S-3. Initiate an amendment to Section 143.072(d) Subchapter E, Local
Government Code to grant a fire fighter or police officer a leave of
absence for initial training, annual duty, or recall to active duty in the
military guard or reserves.
S-4. Initiate legislation to allow a combination of law enforcement and military
service credit to qualify for the age exception to take the entrance
examination for a civil service position.
