HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 2002-R0189 - Resolution Creating The North And East Lubbock Development Commission - 05/09/2002Resolution No. 2002-RO189 May 9, 2002, Special Item No. 1 RESOLUTION WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the City Council that the best interests of the citizens of the City of Lubbock would be served by establishing a North and East Lubbock Development Commission for the City of Lubbock; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to have said Commission study residential and commercial development in the north and east areas of the City of Lubbock (City council Districts No. 1 and 2); and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to have the Commission seek input from both professional sources and the general public during the course of the Commission's study of this issue; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to have the Commission provide a final report to the City Council by not later than the final City Council meeting of 2002 recommending a course of action upon this issue; NOW THEREFORE: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: THAT a North and East Lubbock Development Commission is hereby created by the City Council of the City of Lubbock, which shall be created and perform its duties in accordance with the following criteria: 1. Study the options with regard to residential and commercial development of the north and east areas of the City of Lubbock (City Council Districts No. 1 and No. 2) and seek input from professional sources and the general public on the issue. 2. The Commission will consist of nine (9) members. One member will be appointed by each member of the City Council and two members and a chair for the Commission shall be appointed by the Mayor. The City Manager of the City of Lubbock shall appoint a staff liaison to the Committee. 3. Regular meetings will be held at times and locations established by a majority of the Commission members. A simple majority of members shall constitute a quorum, and a majority vote of the quorum shall be required for any action to be taken by the Commission. 4. The Commission members shall serve until the final report is submitted to the City Council. 6. The chairperson of the Commission shall present the final report to the City Council recommending a course of action with regard to the above topic not later than the final City Council meeting of 2002.
