HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 2001-R0171 - Allocation From The Hotel Occupancy Tax Fund To Arena Football League - 05/10/2001Resolution No. 2001-RO171 May 10, 2001 Item No. 35 RESOLUTION WHEREAS, Section 351.101(a)(3) of the Tax Code provides that hotel occupancy tax may be used for advertising and conducting solicitations and promotional programs to attract tourists to a municipality; and WHEREAS, Section 102.010 of the Local Government Code of the State of Texas authorizes City Council to make changes in budgets for municipal purposes; and WHEREAS, in accordance with the City Budget Ordinance, the City Manager is authorized to make transfers between funds, accounts, departments or programs for City purposes; and WHEREAS, the City Council deems it advisable to change the budget for municipal purposes and reallocate funds; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it would be in the public interest and promote tourism to authorize the expenditure of $25,000 from the Hotel Occupancy Tax reserve fund to assist in the promotion of a professional arena football league event in the Lubbock Municipal Coliseum on June 16, 2001; NOW THEREFORE: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: THAT the City Council of the City of Lubbock hereby authorizes and directs the City Manager to allocate $25,000 from the Hotel Occupancy Tax reserve fund established by Sec. 26-22(b)(2) of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Lubbock to assist in the promotion of a professional arena football league event in the Lubbock Municipal Coliseum on June 16, 2001.
