RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Section 351.101(a)(3) of the Tax Code provides that hotel occupancy
tax may be used for advertising and conducting solicitations and promotional programs to
attract tourists to a municipality; and
WHEREAS, Section 102.010 of the Local Government Code of the State of
Texas authorizes City Council to make changes in budgets for municipal purposes; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with the City Budget Ordinance, the City Manager is
authorized to make transfers between funds, accounts, departments or programs for City
purposes; and
WHEREAS, the City Council deems it advisable to change the budget for
municipal purposes and reallocate funds; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it would be in the public interest and
promote tourism to authorize the expenditure of $25,000 from the Hotel Occupancy Tax
reserve fund to assist in the promotion of a professional arena football league event in the
Lubbock Municipal Coliseum on June 16, 2001; NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
THAT the City Council of the City of Lubbock hereby authorizes and directs the
City Manager to allocate $25,000 from the Hotel Occupancy Tax reserve fund established
by Sec. 26-22(b)(2) of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Lubbock to assist in the
promotion of a professional arena football league event in the Lubbock Municipal
Coliseum on June 16, 2001.
Passed by the City Council this 10th day of May '2001.
