RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the Science Spectrum is developing a new 8,000 square foot exhibit
to be named The Brazos River Journey: Texas Alive; and
WHEREAS, the exhibit will feature aquariums, terrariums and hands-on exhibits
explaining the importance of the Brazos River to agriculture, industry, boating,
swimming and fishing throughout Texas; and
WHEREAS, City Council of the City of Lubbock deems it to be in the public
interest to assist the Science Spectrum with this project as it will enhance and promote
tourism to Lubbock; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lubbock desires to have the City
apply for a Texas Recreation and Parks Account Indoor Recreation Program Grant; NOW
THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
THAT the City Manager of the City of Lubbock or his designee is hereby
authorized and directed to make application for a Texas Recreation and Parks Account
Indoor Recreation Program Grant to assist the Science Spectrum in completion of its new
exhibit, "The Brazos River Journey: Texas Alive."
Resolved by the City Council of the City of Lubbock this 14thday of December , 2000.
