ORDINANCE NO. 2009-00003
AN ORDINANCE ABANDONING AND CLOSING A PORTION OF
AVENUE P LOCATED IN SECTION 19, BLOCK A, LUBBOCK COUNTY, TEXAS,
AND MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED IN THE BODY OF THIS ORDINANCE;
DIRECTING THE CITY ENGINEER TO MARL{ THE OFFICIAL MAPS OF THE
CITY TO REFLECT SAID ABANDONMENT AND CLOSING; PROVIDING A
SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATON.
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the street portion as hereinafter described
in the body of this Ordinance is no longer needed for street purposes and for public use; A
and it would be in the public interest to close, vacate and abandon the same for street
purposes and for public use; and it would be in the public interest to close, vacate and y
abandon the same; NOW THEREFORE:

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: m

SECTION 1. THAT the street portion as hereinafter described shall BE and the
same is hereby closed, vacated and abandoned for street purposes and for public use, such
street portion being more particularly described in the attached Exhibit "A".
SECTION 2. THAT the City Engineer is hereby authorized and directed to mark
the official maps of the City of Lubbock to reflect said abandonment and closing,
showing the number of this Ordinance and the date of its final passage.
SECTION 3. THAT should any section, paragraph, sentence, phrase, clause or
word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason, the
remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby.
SECTION 4. THAT the City Secretary of the City of Lubbock is hereby
authorized and directed to cause publication of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance
as an alternative method provided by law.
AND IT IS SO ORDERED.
Passed by the City Council on first reading this 8ffi day ofJanuary, 2009.
Passed by the City Council on second reading the 12thday of February, 2009.

FIELD NOTES on a 0.27 acre tract of land, being a portion of Avenue P lying between the Marsha Sharp
Freeway and the new Avenue P as situated in Section 19, Block A, Lubbock County, Texas and being more
particularly described by metes and bounds as follows:
BEGINNING at a 1/2" iron rod with cap, found on the East line of Block 1, Blake Subdivision and being at
the intersection of the original West right of way line of Avenue P with the new Avenue P right of way line,
whence a 1/2" iron rod found for the Northeast corner of said Block i, Blake Subdivision bears North
2026'34" East, a distance of 54.31 feet;
THENCE Southeasterly, along the existing right of way line of Avenue P, an arc distance of 106.88 feet to
a 1/2" iron rod found for a corner of this 0.27 acre tract, said curve having a radius of 164.90 feet and a
chord that bears South 3401133" East, a distance of 105.02 feet; .
THENCE South 52045'40" East, along the existing right of way line of Avenue P, a distance of 7.17 feet to
a 1/2" iron, found at the intersection of this line with the West line of Block 2, Richmond Addition, for the
Northeast corner of this 0.27 acre tract;
THENCE South 2022'15" West, along the West line of said Block 2, Richmond Addition, a distance of
136.48 feet to a 1/2" iron rod, found at the intersection of this line with the North right of way line of the
Marsha Sharp Freeway, for the Southeast corner of this 0.27 acre tract;
THENCE South 8902234" West, along the North right of way line of the Marsha Sharp Freeway, a distance
of 68.83 feet to a 1/2" iron rod with cap, set at the intersection of this line with the East line of Block 1,
Blake Subdivision, for the Southwest comer of this 0.27 acre tract; .
THENCE North 202634" East, along the East line of said Block 1, Blake Subdivision, a distance of 228.66
feet to the point of beginning.
