AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 10 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF
HE CITY OF LUBBOCK BY AMENDING SECTION 10-6 THEREOF TO PROVIDE
OR ADJUSTMENT OF VOTING PRECINCT BOUNDARIES; PROVIDING FOR
NEW VOTING PRECINCTS; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; PROVIDING FOR
UBLICATION AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that the changes in the voting pre-
cincts as shown below, which conform with the- Lubbock County Precincts, would
e in the beast interest of the citizens of the City of Lubbock; and
WHEREI�S, the City Council finds that the establishing of the election precincts
which confo m with the Lubbock Councy precincts prior to the general election of
he City of Lubbock creates an emergency which requires immediate passage of
his measure; NOW THEREFORE
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:

SECTIO1 1. THAT Section 10-6 of the Code of Ordinances, City of Lubbock,
Texas, BE and is hereby amended so that the voting precincts' indicated herein
shall herea ter read as follows:
Vot' g Precinct No 20. Beginning at the intersection of 19th Street with
the ast city limits; thence south along the east city limits to its intersect-
ion ith the track of the A. T. & SF Railway; thence northwest along the
tra s of the A. T. & SF Railway to their intersection with the F. W. & D. C
Rai road thence northwest along the tracks of the F. W. & D. C. Road to
thei intersection with Avenue H; thence north along Avenue H to its inter-
sec ion with 19th Street; thence east along 19th Street. to the point of begin-
. . The voting place shall be Ella Iles School.'
Vot' g Precinct No 26. Beginning at the intersection of Avenue H with
the racks of the Fe W. & D. C. Railroad; thence east along such tracks to
Ave' ue A; thence south along Avenue .A to its intersection with Avenue H;
thence north along Avenue H to the point of beginning. The voting place
shall be Chris Harwell School.
Voting Precinct No 49. Beginning at the intersection of Indiana Avenue
and 19th Street; thence east along 19th Street to its intersection with Bostb
Avenue; thence north along Boston Avenue to its intersection with the
extension of 15th Street on the Tech campus; thence west along the extenw
Sion of 15th Street and continuing in a westerly direction to its intersection
with Indiana Avenue; thence -south along Indiana Avenue to the point of
beginning. The voting place shall be the Aggie Pavilion, Texas Tech
University,

SECTION 2. THAT Section 10-6 of the Code of Ordinances, City of Lubbock,
Texas, BE and is hereby amended by adding thereto new voting precincts describe
as follows
Voting Precinct No. 50. Beginning at the intersection of Indiana Avenue
and 4th Street; thence east along 4th Street to its intersection with Univer-
sityAvenue; thence south along University Avenue to its intersection with
19th_Street; thence west along 19th Street to its intersection with Boston
Avenue; thence north along Boston Avenue to its intersection with the exte
Sion of 15th Street on the Tech campus;thence west along the extension of
15thx Street and continuing in a westerly direction t,o its intersection with
Indi*na Avenue; thence north along Indiana Avenue to the point of beginning

Voting Precinct No. 51. Beginning at the intersection of Avenue A and the
tracks of the F. W. & D. C. Railroad; thence southeast' along such tracks t
thei intersection with the tracks of the A. T. & S F. Railway; thence
soot east along the tracks of the A T. & S. F. Railway and continuing along
the -ast city- limits to its intersection with the south city limits, such point
bei the southwest; side of the traffic interchange of U. S,. Highway 84 and
Spu 331; thence west along the south city limits to its intersection with
Ave 'ue H thence north along Avenue H to its intersection with Avenue A;
thence north along Avenue A to the point of beginning. The voting place
shal be the Southeast Elementary School.
S.ECTIO 3. THAT Section 1.0-6 of the Code of Ordinances, City of Lubbock
BE and is reby' amended by amending the paragraph following the listing of votin
precincts, hich refers to the voting precincts map, to read as follows:
"Voting precincts (1) through (29) inclusive and voting precincts (47),
(48), (49), (50) and (51) are hereby delineated on the map denominated
"City of Lubbock Voting Precincts, Revised March 197". A. copy of
said map is hereby attached+to and made' a part hereof as though fully
copied in detail. An original copy of said map shall be kept .in the
office of the City Secretary and shall be open to public inspection, and
lat each special and general city election, a true copy of said map shall
be furnished by the City Secretary to each of the presiding judges of
each voting precinct in said election.".
SECTION 4. THAT should any section, paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase
or word. of This Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason,
the remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby.
SECTION 5. THAT the City Secretary is hereby authorized to cause publica-
tion of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance as an alternative method provided.

-= SECTION 6, THAT the fact that public necessity and convenience requires tha
this Ordinance be passed as an emergency measure for reasons set forth in the
preamble hereof, the rule requiring that no Ordinance shall be finally passed on th
day of its introduction be suspended, and this Ordinance is declared to be an
emergency measure to take effect from and after its passage and publication as se -
forth hereiiabove,
