HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 4829-1965 - Amending Ord 2075&2088, One Way Directions - 10/14/1965jt Im ORDINANCE NO, AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCES 2075 AND 2088 WHICH DESIGNATI PORTIONS OF CERTAIN AVEN"'��ES AND STREETS AS ONE-WAY STREETS AND PERMITTED VEHICULAR TRAFFIC TO PROCEED IN ONLY ONE DIRECTION ON SUCH DESIGNATED STREETS; DESIGNATING THAT PORTION OF 13TH STREET FROM AVENUE H TO AVENUE T AS A TWO-WAY STREET; PERMITTING VEHI- CULAR TRAFFIC TO MOVE BOTH EAST AND WEST ON SUCH STREET; REPEAL ING ALL PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; PROVIDING A PEN. ALTY; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY; AND DIRECTING THE CITY SECRETI TO CAUSE PUBLICATION OF THE CAPTIONS AND PENALTY CLAUSE HEREOF AS AN ALTERNATIVE METHOD OF PUBLICATIONS PROVIDED BY LAW WHEREAS., The City Council of the City of Lubbock finds that for the immedi- ate preservation of the public peace, property, health and safety., the vehicular traffic on 13th Street in the City of Lubbock as hereinafter more particularly de- scribed should be permitted to travel in two directions and should no longer be designated as a one-way street; and, WHEREAS, the urgent need for such preservation of the public peace, -propert3, health and safety of the people of the City of Lubbock creates an emergency requir- ing the supervision of the rules providing for two readings of an Ordinance before final passage thereof; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. THAT Section five of Ordinance No. 2088 be, and the same is i hereby repealed. SECTION 2. THAT Section six of Ordinance No. 2075 be, and the same is hereby repealed. SECTION 3. THAT portion of 13th street from Avenue H to Avenue T is hereb, designated atwo-way street and vehicular traffic proceeding East and West shall be permitted, thereon only in accordance with traffic control devices, signs and markings for such said portion of such said street. SECTION 4. It shall be unlawful for any person., firm or corporation to allow, permit, or suffer any vehicle to be driven in violation of Section 3 of this6rdinanc4 SECTION 5. All parts of Ordinances conflicting with Section 3 of this Ordinan( are hereby repealed only insofar as such conflict exists. SECTION 6. The fact that the City Council has found conditions described in the preamble creating an emergency requires that the rules providing for two sep- arate readings of an Ordinance are hereby suspended and this Ordinance shall take effect and be in -force ten (10) days after the date of its final publication. SECTION 7. THAT the City Secretary is hereby authorized and directed to cause the publication of the Descriptive Caption and Penalty Clause hereof as an alternative method of publication provided by law.
