WHEREAS, Section 102.010 of the Local Government Code of the State of Texas authorizes the City Council to make changes in the budget for municipal purposes; and WHEREAS, in accordance with the City Budget Ordinance the City Council shall approve all transfers between funds; and WHEREAS, the City Council deems it advisable to change the FY 2017-18 Budget for municipal purposes and reallocate funds as follows; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. THAT the City Council of the City of Lubbock hereby approves changes to the City of Lubbock Budget FY 2017-18 (Budget Amendment #10) for municipal purposes, as follows: Accept and appropriate $10,000 from The Hartford for the 2018 Hartford Fire Safety Grant. SECTION 2. THAT a copy of the changes made to the City of Lubbock Budget pursuant to this Ordinance shall be filed with the City Secretary and County Clerk of Lubbock as required by law. SECTION 3. THAT should any section, paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase or word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason, the remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby. Company marks second year of program focused on reducing home fires in the 100 U.S. cities with the highest home fire risk HARTFORD, Conn. --(BUSINESS WIRE [2])--A home fire is reported in the U.S, every 90 seconds and 33 percent of home fires are started by children 6-9 years old.' In an effort to help reduce home fires, in 2018, The Hartford will donate a total of $700,000 in grants and educate approximately 500,000 children about the importance of fire prevention and safety. This initiative is part of a three-year commitment, announced in 2017 as part of The Hartford's Junior Fin Marshal Program& [3] that will provide $2 million in grants and educate 1.5 million children in the 100 cities with the highest home fire risk in The Hartford's Home Fire Index [4].2 Last year, the company donated a total of $590,000 in grants and educated more than 350,000 students about fire safety in more than 25 cities. In 2018, The Hartford will provide donations to an additional 35 cities on the index.
