S. HIGHWAY NO. 879 AS DESCRIBED BY METES AND BOUNDS IN THE BODY OF THIS ORDINANCE; PROVIDING FOR EXTENSION OF THE CITY LIMITS AND CORPORATEIBOUNDARIES TO ANNEX THE AREA; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION AND FINAL PASSAGE UNDER PROVISIONS OF SECTION 3-A, ARTICLE 1, CHAPTER 1 OF THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, AND EXTENDING THE CITY LIMITS TO INCLUDE SAID AREA. WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that the area hereinafter described is in line of development, growth and expansion being experienced by the City of Lubbock, that its annexation has been requested, and the Commission further finds that annexation of the described area will be in the best in- terest of public health, morals, safety and general welfare, and the Commis- sion is authorized to annex the same under those Charter provisions; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. THAT the following described area abutting and adjacent to the existing corporate limits of the City of Lubbock, in Lubbock County, Texas, out of Section 15, Block A. described by metes and bounds, as follows: BEGINNING at a point in the present City Limits Line, said point being 21.2 feet North of the Northeast corner of Lot 8, Block 3, of the Countryr Club Addition to the City of Lubbock, Texas; THENCE North 310 020 East 1185.7 feet to a point that is 2339.46 feet South and 2177 feet East of the North- west corner of Section 15, Block A, Lubbock County, Texas; THENCE East along the North line of the Adams tract, continuing across Highway No. 87. in all 463.7 feet the Northwest corner of the Ed Holcomb tract; to THENCE Southwesterly 200 feet along and with the West line of the Ed Holcomb tract and the Southeast Right - of -Way line of Highway No 87. to a point; THENCE East 231.76 feet along and with the South line of the Ed Holcomb tract to a point; THENCE South 220 42' West 911.2 feet to a point in the present City Line, said point being 21.2 feet North of the Northeast corner of Lot 61V Block 2, of said Country Club Addition; THENCE West 860 feet along and with the present City Limits Line to the POINT OF BEGINNING; Containing 16.998 acres more or less. BE, and the same is hereby annexed to and included within the corporate limits of the City of Lubbock. SECTION 2. This Ordinance shall be forthwith published in a daily news- paper published in the City of Lubbock, Texas, one (1) time, and shall not be thereafter finally acted upon until at least thirty (30) days have elapsed after such publication, and if finally passed in its present form, the bound- ary limits of the City of Lubbock shall thereby be fixed to include the area, territory and extension described in Section one (1) of this Ordinance.
