PUBLICATION AND FINAL PA.SSAG.E UNDER PROVISIONS OF SECTION 3-A, ARTICLE I, CHAPTER. 1 OF THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, AND EXTENDING THE CITY LIMITS TO INCLUDE SAID AREA, WHEREAS, the City Commission find that the area hereinafter des- cribed is in line of development, growth and expansion being experienced by the City of Lubbock, that its annexation has been requested, and the Commission further finds that annexation of the described area will be in the best interest of public health, morals, safety and general welfare, and the Commission is authorized to annex the same under those Charter pro- visions; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMItiSSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. THAT the following described area abutting and adjacent to the existing corporate limits of the City of Lubbock in Lubbock County, Texas, out of Section 7, Block E-2, described by metes and bounds as follows: BEGINNING at a point in Indiana Avenue and on West Section Line of Section 7, Block E-2, Lubbock County, Texas, said point being 500 feet South of the Northwest corner of said Section 7, Block E-2 and in the present City Limits Line; THENCE South along the West line of said Section 7, Block E-2, a distance of 2140 feet to a point, said point being the mid point of the West line of said Section; THENCE East a distance of 1320 feet to a point, said point being the Northwest Corner of the Northeast one -quarter of the Southwest one -quarter of said Sec- tion 7, Block E-2; THENCE South a distance of 1320 feet to a point, said point being the Southwest corner of the Northeast one - quarter of the Southwest one -quarter of Section 7, Block E-2; THENCE East a distance of 1320 feet to a point, said point being the Southeast corner of the Northeast one - quarter of the Southwest one -quarter of said Section 7, Block E-2; THENCE North a distance of 654. 56 feet joining the present city limits line and continuing North 2805.44 feet further along the present city line located along the center line of Elging Avenue and the mid section line of said Section 7, Block E-2 to a point; said point being 500 feet South of the North line of said Section 7, Block E-2; THENCE West along and with the present city line a distance of 2640. 0 feet to the point of beginning in Indiana Avenue; Containing approximately 170 acres of land, BE and the same is hereby annexed to and included within the corporate limits of the City of Lubbock. SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be forthwith published in a daily newspaper published in the City of Lubbock, Texas, one (1) time, and shall not be thereafter finally acted upon until at least thirty (30) days have elapsed after such publication, and if finally passed in its present form, the boundary limits of the City of Lubbock shall thereby be fixed to include the area, territory and extension described in Section 1 (one) of this ordinance. AND IT IS SO ORDERED. This ordinance was ordered to be published by the Commission at a regular meeting of the City Commission this 14th day of July, 1955.
