HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 1948-1956 - Annexing An Area Block E - 06.23.19560�23I913 0 09 131951O ORDINANCE N0, 1948 AN ORDINANCE ANNRMG AN AREA AND TRACT ABUTTING AND ADJACENT TO THE EXISTING CORPOEATR LINUTS OF THR CITY OF LUBBOCK, BEING AND CONTAINING 135.2 ACRES OUT OF SECTION 3, BLOCK E, LUBBOCK COUNTY, TEXAS, SAID TRACT BEING IJORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED BY DYES AND BOUNDS IN M BODY OF THIS ORDINANCE; PROVIDING FOR EXTENSION OF THE CITY LINITS AND CORPORATE BOUNDARIES TO ANNEX THE AREA; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION AND FINAL PASSAGE UNDER PROVISIONS OF SECTION 3-A, ARTIWZ I, CHAPTER 1, OF THE CHARTM OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK.. AND EXTENDING THE CITY LIT1ITS TO INCLUDE SAID ART44 11 WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that the area hereinafter described is in the line of development, growth and expansion being experienced by the +City of Lubbock, that the annexation thereof has been requested, and the Commission further finds that annexation of the described area will be in the best interest of public health, morals, safety and general welfake, and the Commission is authorized to annex the same under the Charter provisions of the City of Lubbock; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAIM BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. THAT the following describe} area abutting and adjacent to the existing corporate limits of the City of Lubbo%k in Lubbock County, Texas, descri by metes and bounds as follows: BEGINNING at the Southwest corner of Section 3, Block E, Lubbock County, Texas, which corner is on the present City Limit Line; THENCE North along the West line of Section 3, being also along the present City Limit Line as described in Ordinance No. 1818 and Ordinance No. 1704, a distance of 2315 feet, more or less, to a point; THENCE East along the present City Limit Line as described in Ordinance No. 1651, a distance of 1980 feet to a point; THEUCE South along the present City Limit Line as described in Ordinance No. 1866, a distance of 335 feet to a point; THENCE East along the present City Limit Line being the carter line of 60th Street as described in Ordinance No. 18661, a distance of 660 feet to a point; THENCE South along the present City Limit Line as des- cribed in Ordinance No. 1651, a distance of 1980 feet, more or less to a point, being the Southwest corner of the South- east one-fourth of Section 3, Block E; THENCE West along the South Section line of Section 3, a distnnce of 261,.0 feet, more or less, to the PLACE OF BEGIN- NING, Containing 135.2 acres. y BR, and the same is hereby annexed to and included within the corporate limits of the City of Lubbock. SECTION 2. This Ordinance shall be forthwith published in a daily news— paper published in the City of Lubbock, Texas, one (1) time, and shall not be thereafter finally acted upon until at least thirty (30) days have elapsed after such publication, and if finally passed in its present form, the boundary limits of the City of Lubbock shall thereby be fixed in include the area, territory and extension described in Section One (1) of this Ordinance. AND IT MS SO ORDERED. This Ordinance was ordered to be published by the Commission at a regular meeting of the City Commission this iti day of June ,1956.
