Second Reading May 11. 1989 Item #9 ORDINANCE NO ·...::9;.::.2.:...:76:...._ ___ _ AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2-164 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, TEXAS, WITH REGARD TO THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE PERMIT AND LICENSE APPEAL BOARD OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lubbock believes that it would be in the best interest of the citizens of the City of Lubbock to increase the membership of the Permit and License Appeal Board from five (5) members to seven (7) members, and to require certain areas of expertise for three of the Board's members; NOW THEREFORE: BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. THAT Section 2-164 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Lubbock, Texas, BE and is hereby amended to read as follows: 11 Sec. 2-164. Created; composition, terms of members. There is hereby created and established a board to be known and designated as the 11 permit and license appeal board11 consisting of seven (7) members who shall be appointed by the city council. Of such membership, three members shall have expertise in the following areas: one in law enforcement, one in transportation, and one in health. The members shall serve staggered terms, as has been heretofore established, which terms shall be for two {2} years, commencing with members appointed during calendar year 1986. The board shall adopt its own rules of procedure, which shall not be inconsistent with the requirements of this article, and shall elect its chairman and vice-chairman, which officers shall serve one (1) year terms ... SECTION 2. THAT should any paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase or word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason, the remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby. t SECTION 3. THAT the City Secretary is hereby authorized and directed to cause publication of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance as an alternative method of publication provided by law. - / ~J AND IT IS SO ORDERED.
