AN ORDJNANCE AMENDJNG CHAPTER 5 OF THE CODE OF OR9INANCES OF
THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, (BEING ORDINANCE NO. 4725, THE BUILDING CODE),
BY AMENDING SECTION 1305 THEREOF PROVIDING FOR VENTILATION OF
GROUP H OCCUPANCIES: AMENDING SECTION 1405 THEREOF PROVIDING FO~
VENTILATION FOR GROUP I OCCUPANCIES: PROVIDJNG A SAVINGS CLAUSE
AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION.
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the following changes in the Building
Code would be in the best interest of the citizens of the City of Lubbock; NOW
THEREFORE:
BE IT ORD.AlNED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT Section 1305 of Chapter 5 of the Code of Ordinances of the
City of Lubbock, Ot:reing Ordinance No. 4725, the Building Code), BE and is hereby
amended by amending the second paragraph of subsection (a) thereof so that such
paragraph shall hereafter read as follows:
"The window area in bathrooms, water-closet compartments, and other
similar rooms shall be not less than three square feet (3 sq. ft.) unless
a mechanical ventilation system is provided which is capable of producing
a change of air every five (5) minutes and is connecied directly to the out-
side or is terminated in a properly v~ated attic space with the point of
discharge being at least two (2) inches above the ceiling joists and at least
twenty (20") inches from flammable material in the direction of air flow
from such vent and also at least twenty (20") .inches below flammable
material. 11
SECTION 2. THAT Section 1405 of Chapter 5 of the Code of Ordinances of the
City of Lubbock (being Ordinance No. 4725, the Building Code), BE and is hereby
~mended by amending the second paragraph of subsection (a) thereof so that such
paragraph shall hereafter read as follows:

SECTION 3. Should any section, paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase, or
word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any r reason, the
remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby.
SECTION 4. THAT the City Secretary is hereby authorized to cause
publication of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance as an alternative method
provided by law.
