AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 18 OF THE CODE OF ORDlliANCES,
CITY OF LUBBOCK:, TEXAS. BY ADDING THERETO A NEW SECTION 18-4.1
WHICH WOULD MAKE IT UNLAWFUL TO MOVE ANY BUILDING OR OVERSIZE
LOAD UPON THE STREETS,) ALLEYS, AVENUES. OR PUBLIC GROUNDS OF THE
CITY OF LUBBOCK DURING THE FOLLOWING HOURS OF THE DAY; 7:30 A. M.
TO9:00A.M., 12:00NOONTOl:00P.M., AND4:30P.M. TO 6:00P.M.; PRE
SCRIBING A PENALTY; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE AND PROVIDING FOR
PUBLICATION.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lubbock finds that the moving of
buildings through or upon the streets, alleys, avenues, or public grounds of the
City of Lubbock during certain hours of the day would endanger both motor vehicle
operators and pedestrians, NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT Chapter 18 entitled "Motor Vehicles and Trafficr1 of the
Code of Ordinances of the City of Lubbock BE and the same is hereby amended by
adding thereto a new Section 18-4.1 which shall read as follows:
"Sect:i.!Dn 18-4.1 Moving Buildings or.Oversize Loads.
"It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to move any buil
ing or ~ any oversize, overweight or overlength load, as established by Te s
Statutes_. in_. through. or upon the streets, alleys, avenues, or public
grounds within the limits of the City of Lubbock. during the following hours
of the day; 7:30 A. M. to 9:00 A. M., 12:00 Noon to 1:00 P. M., and 4:30
P. M. to 6:00 P. M.; save and except any such activity commenced during
authorized hours shall be permitted to continue during prohibited hours,
provided notice thereof is given to the Police Department".
SECTION 2. THAT any person, firm or corporation violating the provisiqps
of this Ordinance shall, upon conviction, be punished by a fine not to exceed TWO
UNDRED ($200. 00) DOLLARS.
SECTION 3. Should any paragraph. sentence_. clause_. phrase, or word of this
Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason, the remainder of
his Ordinance shall not be affected thereby.
SECTION 4. The City Secretary is authorized and directed to cause the publi-
cation of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance together with the penalty as an
alternative method of publication as provided by law.
