HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 1390-1953 - Establishing No-Parking Zones On East Side Of Avenue F - 05/14/1953~~~··~·~-==------------------------------=-=----------------=======-=-=========*~ .. -OS-1'-\---(.9'53 ORDINANCE NO. 1390 ------ AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING NO-PARKING ZONES ON THE EAST SIDE OF AVENUE "P" BETWEEN 18TH AND 19TH STREEl'S; ON THE 'WEST SIDE OF AVENUE nptt BETWEEN 18TH AND 19l'H STREETS; ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF 15TH STREET, BEGINNING AT A POINT ON COLLEGE AVENUE AND EXTENDING EAST A DISTANCE OF 250 FEET; ON THE NORTH SIDE OF 15TH STREET, BEGIN- NING AT A POINT ON COLlEGE AVENUE AND EXTENDING EAST A DISTANCE OF 250 FEET; ON THE NORTH SIDE OF 19TH STREET BETWEEN AVENUE "J" AND TEXAS AVENUE; AUTHORIZING PAINTING OF CURBS AND THE ERECTION OF SIGNS; PROVIDING A PENALTY; REPEALING CONFLICT ING ORDINANCES; AUTHORIZING PUBLICATION; AND DIDLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. That No-Parking Zones BE, and are hereby established on the following described portions of streets, and it shall hereafter be unlawful for any per:Jon operating, driving or in control of a vehicle to allow, permit or suffer such vehicle to be parked in the portions of streets hereinafter desCTibed as constituting the No-Parking Zones. SECTION 2. That those portions of streets referred to in Section 1 (One) of this Ordinance as No-Parking Zones are as follows: A. On the East side of Avenue P between 18th and 19J:.h Streets. B. On the West side of Avenue P betveen 18th and 19th Streets. c. On the South side of 15th Street, beginning at a point on College Avenue and extendibg East a distance of 250 feet. D. On the North side of 15th Street, beginning at a point on College Avenue and extending East a distance of 250 feet. E. On the North side of 19th Street between Avenue J and Texas Avenue. F. On the Jiorth side of 15th Street beglnninf at the East Property Line or Avenue. Q ana e.kt~l'\diilg East. ~4QJ ort7. feet;. SECTION .3. That the Chl.ef of Foll.ce 'is authorized ana directed to paint the curbs and erect signs indicating No-Parking Zones consistent with the provisions of this Ordinance. SECTION 4. That any person who shall suffer or permit any vehicle operated, driven or controlled by him to ba parked in the areas described in Sec- tion 2 (Tvo) of this Ordinance shall, upon conviction, be fined in any sum not exceeding $200.00. SECTION 5. That all portions of other ordinances in conflict \lith the provisions of this Ordinance are hereby repealed. SECTION 6. That the City Se~tary is hereby authorized to cause publi0 tion of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance together with the penalty clause _r as an alternative method provided by law. -1- SECTION 7. That due to the changing traffic condi tiona creating a hazard injurious to the public and the public's use of the st-reets, the enactment of this ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure thereby creating a public necessity that the rule requiring proposed ordinances to be presented at two (2) separate commission meetings be dispensed with and this Ordinance shall be effecti from the date of 1 ts passage as provided by law. AND IT IS SO ORDERED.
