HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 7958-1979 - Abandoning/Closing Portions Of Vicksburg Avenue - 11/08/1979! ·• . . .,, ..,,, . l ; JWF:pg ORDINANCE NO. 7958 AN ORDINANCE ABANDONING AND CLOSING THE FOLLOWING PORTIONS OF STREET: A PORTION OF VICKSBURG AVENUE IN THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, LUBBOCK COUNTY, TEXAS, AND MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED IN THE BODY OF THIS ORDINANCE; DIRECTING THE CITY ENGINEER TO MARK THE OFFICIAL MAP OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK TO INDICATE THE CLOSING AND ABANDONMENT OF THAT CERTAIN STREET; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION. WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the Street portions hereinafter described are no longer needed for Street purposes and for public use; and, WHEREAS, the City Council finds it would be to the public interest to close, vacate and abandon the same for Street purposes and to public use; and NOW THEREFORE: BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. THAT the Street portions as hereinafter described shall BE and the same are hereby closed, vacated and abandoned for street purposes and for public use: A portion of Vicksburg Avenue, said portion being further described as follows: BEGINNING at a point which bears East 2,399.90 feet and South 2,902.66 feet from the Northwest corner of Section 15, Block E-2, Lubbock County, Texas; THENCE South a distance of 170.00 feet to a point of curvature; THENCE Southwesterly around a curve to the right, said curve having a radius of 824.97 feet, a central angle of 02° 45 1 1411 , tangent lengths of 19.38 feet, and a chord distance of 39,65 feet; THENCE North 79° West a distance of 101.11 feet; THENCE Northeasterly around a curve to the left, said curve having a radius of 993.70 feet, a central angle of 01° 10' 22", tangent lengths of 10.17 feet, and a chord distance of 20.34 feet; THENCE North a distance of 170.00 feet; THENCE East a distance of 100.00 feet to the PLACE OF BEGINNING. SECTION 2. THAT the City Engineer is hereby authorized and directed to mark the official map of the City of Lubbock to indicate that the portion of Street described in Section 1 hereof has been closed and abandoned, showing the number of this Ordinance and the date of its final passage. SECTION 3. THAT Should any section, paragraph, sentence, phrase, clause or word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason, the remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby. 1 .. _.I ., ... ; \ SECTION 4.
